AI Singapore (AISG), in partnership with MYCentre4IR and the Ministry of Digital, hosted the Kuala Lumpur Regional Roundtable on AI Governance. Centered on “AI Governance in Malaysia and the Question of Developing AI to Suit Local Contexts.” The event gathered leaders from industry, government, and academia to discuss Malaysia’s progress, challenges, and opportunities in AI governance.
Opening remarks by Yang Berbahagia Mr. Fabian Bigar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital, set the stage for a dynamic discussion. Key sessions, moderated by Simon Chesterman of AISG, Yang Berusaha Mr. Ma. Sivanesan, Jungpil Hahn of AISG, and Mr Khalil Nooh, Co-Founder & CEO of Mesolitica, explored governance frameworks and the development of AI tailored to Malaysia’s needs. Discussions highlighted opportunities for innovation, cultural relevance, and inclusive growth while addressing ethical and resource challenges.
